Well, sort of! I always wanted a swamp ash Tele of about 4# body weight with a satin vintage finish and a blackguard. The neck is birdseye/birdseye (the birds were on acid when they made this one) of 1 3/4" nut width and 1" fatback (deep U) shape. Both the body and neck are from deleted. The tuners are Sperzel's and the bridge and neck plate are Callaham's. The pickups (for today, at least) are Fender SCN's from the Custom Shop. It all started here, but now it's finished (well, it still needs strap buttons): guitarnuts2.proboards45.com/index.cgi?board=music&action=display&thread=1144693896The front; The body back; The left side; The back; The body front; The control panel; I appologize for the following pics being out of focus, but the strings kept winning the auto-focus battle and it was real late in the night. The square pad is the pickup frame ground. The triangle pad is the signal return coil wire, usually connected to ground. The round pad is the signal output coil wire. The wire colors may vary, the pads don't. The underside of the SCN Neck pickup; The underside of the SCN Bridge pickup; The bridge plate ground (the blue wire is the ground, the yellow is just insulation to keep the bare wire in place); The wiring is demented; The Demented TeleBlender

That is a gorgeous Tele. Warmoth do some top grade bodies and necks (and charge well for them). Something about a natural tele, especially ash, that looks so darned rock'n'roll. A guitar to cherish and be proud of.

Beautiful guitar, Chris! I'm wondering if the guard is the old-style Bakelite or the more modern version- I noted the 5-screw configuration on that, wondering about the material. But very "purdy" either way!

The black guard is old..........I found it at a flea market some time ago (I actually bought it to use (and cut up) as an insulator long before I got re-interested in electric guitars).
The color balance is off in the pictures. It actually looks like the 2nd and 3rd pics as it's more yellow(ed) than the other pics show.
The neck pickup location is actually routed for a P-90. If I didn't really like the Fender SCN Tele neck pickup that I have in there......................
The body originally was routed as an Esquire (with the tummy/forearm/heel contours), but if'n I ever need to go there, I just need a blackguard with only 5 holes (6 if'n yer major was topology and/or graph theory).

Mine wasn't, I just count 'em like I see 'em . . . I always wondered if the old style guards were subject to warping over time, and if that was why Leo added more holes later on to both Strat and Tele guards. If you ever do decide to change it up to the E-type, I have an extra Esq guard- but it's mint green and has more holes. Would go nice with one of those USA mini-tele bodies, in the surf green, like you linked to in the post above- if I ever get to another Tele/Esq build.

Nice- I like a good Tele! Are those saddles the pre-compensated type, or did you do the old permanent 'pliers' intonation trick? Shamefully, I now have a six saddle bridge...

Well, Leo knew that he got to keep the difference, so I'm fairly certain it wasn't due to just having a bunch of extra screws laying around. Yep.
