hi there - i'm thinking of shielding my strat and found this site! - excellent has everything i need, brilliant! i've sourced copper tape with conductive glue and will use that. the walkthrough on this site says to lift the ground loops etc. my question is if i shield the cavity and the scratchplate do i need to do the wiring mods as well? will the shielding be as effective without doing them? what difference will the wiring changes make in conjuction with the shielding?
many thanks mark

think of the rewiring to eliminate ground loops, as being a further refinement.
you will still get benefit from doing the shielding alone.
you will get a bit more reduction of hum and noise, by also using the better wiring practices.

Yeah, I was going to fix the ground loops too. I'd original picked up (no pun intended) the Guitarnuts site because of my Tele being a Buz factory (sounds like a freakin light saber when I use dimmers in our house). I plan on doing the shielding project on the Tele first as it will be easier. But I couldn't resist a few tweaks to the Strat based on the site's mod's section.
I just noticed Fender has been improving their shielding on some of their Standard Strats and Teles. Finally!!!

thanks unk, i'll do the shielding first to see how much effect that has then maybe do the wiring afterwards - i don't mind soldering but i'd rather avoid it if i can!!
