How bad of an idea would it be to use 250k pots for a Les Paul-type setup? I'm looking into using the Fender S-1 switches, but they probably only come in 250k. I have been able to find them on one site in Germany. I also have found that you can get a hold of these in a pre-wired pot/switch package on ebay for sort of cheap. Who knows about these things? Anyone know where I can get 4? ;D I would like to use these in a Jimmy Page Les Paul configuaration. The push/pulls on my Strat Lover's have proven to be a little tedious. But, I haven't used them for more than a day, so I can't say much. They'll probably be better with the chrome knobs, too. What would be the difference if I used these 250s? Nanoo

The S-1 switch/pot assemblies are currently available (as of late last year re. B.T.) only as a replacement part, and not as an aftermarket one. I'll ask him if this has (or will be) changed.
A clever sort might search the Mr. GoodHead (or Schematic or Wrench or Whatever) link on the Fender site for posted guitar schematics that have the desired part used therein. The documentation packages include a parts list with part numbers.
Then order it thru an authorized Fender repair shop.
I certainly do it.
You probably won't find a long thread pot for LP use. You may also not find a 500 K unit, but then again you just might.
A kind clever sort just might post the fruits of their labor herein, thus enabling many others.

Yes. That would be great if someone with info could share...hint..hint. I'm putting these on a Strat, but it's a Les Paul type configuration. I'll be going off of the Jimmy Page LP mod. The push pulls would probably be fine with chrome knobs, but the Strat knobs are kind of annoying to pull on. The Tele knobs come in S-1 configuration. That would be pretty sweet to have four of those instead of push/pulls. Maybe not! Who knows? Nanoo

Well worth it for the benefit of being able to use an S-1. I have two myself.

nanooman, I was actually hinting that YOU might compile such info since you have indicated a pressing need. (They DO come in 500K and I just might have such a list compiled post-hint, but since some hints apparently aren't "sticky".....) ;D I'm not a big fan of the Strat knobs either (or at all). For such uses I use Kilo International machined aluminum knobs available from DigiKey.com. These have two set screws and are available in 6mm as well as 1/4" and 1/8" shaft diameters. Penance is.
