OK, I replaced my pots and rewired as best I could per whats on the site (I have an SSH Ibanez with only a single tone control, a little bit different).
Anyway, it works but the noise is worse; as far as I know the connections are correct and nothing is touching the shielding, and my single coils are noticeably quieter than the humbucker...
Also theres a random popping sound when I play, which someone suggested might be a loose connection somewhere, but i couldnt find one...
Any thoughts? I'm pretty frustrated

nevermind, silly mistake on my part
but, what little noise there is seems to fade in and out intermittenly, maybe thats because the shielding isn't electrically continuous? I couldn't really tape down the joints as there were so many, given the way this particular body was hollowed out..

it seems like an accumulation of static electricity is causing those pops.
that happens when the pickguard is inadequately connected to ground.. there should be a copper lining the underside of the pickguard, and the screws holding the pickguard in place should make good contact with the copper, which should be solidly grounded..
test that out by hooking up a wire from pickguard to ground and play normally.. the popping should be gone.
