Name: Nicer Sound ;D Aim/ Use: Gives a new and unique(er) sound to your playing Difficulty: Very Easy Time: 5 Mins Effectivness: 6.5/10 Expence: $0 Source: My own brain Explanation: I did this modifcation on my Yamaha Pacifica. It has S-S-H Pick-up set-up. The pick-ups are screwed in as follows: Layer 1:Screw (top_. ______l====l_________ Layer 2: Pick guard_________| |__________ Layer 3: Spring ___________+++__________ Layer 4: Pick-Ups __________| | __________ Layer 5: Screw (bottom) _____\/____________ -- All you need to do is keep on fastening the screw and you will notice the pick up rising. Keep on going till the pick-up is about 2mm from the Strings (no need to mesure, but make sure strings are not touching the pick-up Advantages: Easy, Cheap and Reversable. Disadvantages: Inccreases hum, and picking noise (SLIGHTLY!) Comment: A must-try modification for beginners, Over-all Rating: 7/10

Guys, i think this went a little off track here, because of the choice of words. Name: +Action
Aim/ Use: Gives a new sound to your playing with more action when you play.
... Png123 is ACTUALLY talking about moving his pickups closer to the strings.when he used the word action, that confused us. since we already use that term to describe the distance from the strings to the frets, i'd suggest that Png123 might chose a different word. unk

png, I almost left this alone (I'll read it, but I see no value in forcing my dementia on others), but I couldn't resist this one. Errrr, what do you suppose brought 98% of the denizens of this board here in the first place? It sure wasn't unklmickey's wit and charm! ;D That's right, it's the same topic started by 9 out of 10 first-time posters here, "I found your forum because I was reading the QtB article, and I wanted to know if.....", or words to that effect. Looking at my records for the past few years, I've done 14 guitars for customers, a couple of them being repeaters (multiple axes). Not to mention that I've always done my own guitars. If you take one thing away from this board, make sure that you are not confused on this issue - Quieting the Beast is a good thing! ;D Any further hesitation on your part will only make you kick yourself that much harder for putting it off so long. 'Nuff said. sumgai
