hey, pretty basic question for more experienced players im sure, but im a relative newcomer so be patient pleae. My epiphone les paul has a really dodgy pickup switch selector. the treble pickup doesnt work on most occasions unless you rapidly flick the switch from the lower pickup to the higher pickup. Is the problem here just with the switch? if so what needs to be done to fix it, 'cause quite frankly it is giving me the craps. cheers

You might have a loose wire going to the switch, Most likely the switch needs replaced, Get yourself a good quality Gibson switch and be done with her.
Good luck with your project, Wesman

Is it an exposed contact switch or are all the guts concealed inside a small metal/plastic enclosure? I had the exact same problem with an exposed contact switch and all I had to do was bend the contacts a little as they've gotten worn down over the years from use. I also use a very light dab of synthetic motor oil on my pot contacts and pivot points to keep them lubricated and smooth. Sounds wacky but it's always worked.
