You can move it prety much anywhere, but that depends on your level of woodworking skill and the monetary value of your woodworking equipment. In english: Sure! But you'll need to rout out some extra wood to make it happen, at least if you want to move it far - you might be able to squeeze the pots together lower on the pickguard, which would just mean drilling some more holes in said pickguard and moving - no soldering required.

Would I be better to take it to a guitar tech? And how will i get past the problem of having holes in my pickguard from where it previously was? Would this type of mod cost alot if I went to a tech?

You can get a plastic cap to plug the empty hole at a home center.
If you change the wiring to make the 3rd pot a master tone, and the 2nd pot the volume, you don't need to do any routing. Many people have done that.

My theory in life is that if you don't like something, don't look at it. Yep! Or, you can have a new pickguard made with only the holes that you want. Pay attention to the details, all Strat pickguards are not the same.

Dan, Well sure, why not. But I'd much prefer it if I were laying down, I'm feeling real lazy these days. Like they say, "if the bag fits......" ;D My only concern is what's gonna happen when they finally run out of paper bags...... am I gonna have to start wearing a plastic grocery sack when I go out in public? Nobody else wants to know. Kinda makes you think, ya know? sumgai

imbru, You can get a plastic cap to plug the empty hole at a home center.
If you change the wiring to make the 3rd pot a master tone, and the 2nd pot the volume, you don't need to do any routing. Many people have done that. I've been doing this since I taught Eric how to play...... that bleedin' knob is always getting in the way! You can get either flat white or chrome jobbies. Sometimes they're called caps, but more often, they're called plugs. The white ones are nylon, and may or may not look good with your pickguard - chrome always looks good, IMHO. You'll need to fill a 3/8" diameter hole, so the final diameter of the piece that shows will likely be 1/2" or so in diameter. And to top it off, I see that I'm gonna have to get out my whipping stick................. How come none of youse guys offered a warm welcome to irnbru? irnbru, welcome to these here forums. We're not always this lazy about courtesy, sometimes I don't have to jump bad for several weeks! Stick around, I've got a feeling you're gonna find lots to do here that'll suck up all your summer vacation time! ;D HTH sumgai

Thanks for all the replies, I decided to go with the 3rd pot being the master tone, and the 2nd pot being the volume approach Although I was too scared to do it myself, so I got a dude who knows what hes doing! Cept it means im fenderless for a few days

I don't really know what it was he done as I wasn't present, and probably wouldnt understand what he was doing anyway if I were But that pesky volume control near the bridge pickup is gone hurray So now I have a master volume, and master tone! Unfortunately the hole is still present, but I can fix that at a later date! Perhaps i'll just buy a custom scratchplate! It is my birthday in about a month
