I have a stratish guitar that i built and i have one question before i can finish building it. Are there any good ways of grounding the strings? On Previous guitars i have had to chisel a channel below the bridge and try to snake a wire from the control cavity to the bridge.
I was just wondering if anyone had any better alternatives cause this is a rather long process.

damn.... i was wondering the same thing. i was gunna wing it and drill a hole over to the screw that holds the bridge and run a wire.
i wasnt quite sure how to do this though.
i was thinking a very small but long bit. I pre drill the hole for the bridge screw then drill the smaller hole for the wire. Id put the wire in and screw the bridge in most of the way then somehow attatch it under the bride/screw so it couldnt be seen.
thats about as far as i got.
i would love to hear more about this.

Both o' ya's, Drilling a hole is the preferred method, channeling wood is out (unless you're Shirley MacLaine). Check this out, then read my explanations below: What you're seeing is a hole that's slightly elliptical, because it was drilled at an angle. Don't worry about chipped paint, the whole area is gonna be covered by the bridge, right? The vertical straight line going up from the left side of that hole is the bare end of the ground wire under discussion. From this, it might not be obvious, but the short story is, you don't need to make a strong, secure, mechanical connection between the wire and the bridge plate. Simply lay the bare wire down on the wood (unchanneled!), and let the plate rest on it as you tighten down the screws. Even through the chrome plating (or gold, or.....), the contact is good enough to do the job that we ask of it - kill the freaking hum! That's all there is to it! Really! ;D HTH sumgai

Hmm..
That's pretty close to what I was planning to do under the bridge pickup mounting-plate-thingo-made for Tele Bigsby's that's gunna support the roller bridge on the much-modified Palm Pedal Tele.... hoping to H*#L that the miriad on components in between all that and the actual STRINGS were going to be sufficiently conductive....
....then I thought, "Why not just ground the Palm Pedal unit (modified Bigsby B-12 frame screwed to the face of the guitar body)...all the strings contact THAT!!!"
That'll work, won't it SG?
