I found an old Peavey Predator s/s/h with a cheap practice amp and a halfway decent case for $100. Good enough to experiment on. With a little adjusting of the truss rod and setting the intonation I got it to sound pretty good, except for some static/hum trouble. I did the QtB except for the safety cap (couldn't find one at the time and am using it on known amp/wiring). QtB took care of interference troubles, but a new problem showed up. Seems that when playing clean I get a loud pop or "thunk" on my low E and A when the pick hits the string and I'm using neck or middle pup (the sc's). The D has a little of it, too. I think that this may be just the cheap pickups being microphonic, and that I couldn't hear it before the QtB. Could I be correct in this assumption or is there something else I may be missing?
