Absolutely. A push/pull pot uses what is effectively the guts of a DPDT switch, so you can substitute it for an ordinary switch easily. The rectangle with six dots on the diagram is the switch part of the volume pot, so just use a regular pot and a DPDT switch here instead.

I agree with Pete. That's quite a clever diagram, splitting three humbuckers using a switch with just two poles.

Well, yeah, if you cheat! Just try this with a bridge-on switch. Actually, this can also be done. Leo only used the other pole on the 3-way for tone control switching (the 5-way wasn't his invention) since the Strat of the day only ever had one pickup on at a time anyway (and the Tele only had one tone control), and the cap could be shared for free since the switch had two poles regardless. $$$$$$$$$ $$$ $$$ $$$$$$$$$

So, do you say that I just open a small hole on the pickguard, I put a 2 position DPDT swich in, I connect the wires excactly like the Seymour Duncan above diagram (green & bleck from middle pickup to the middle lug, the other middle lug is connected to the 5-way. Abridge two lugs together and), use only one more wire to connect the DPDT with the volume Pot ?

Yes, wire the DPDT exactly like the push pull pot switch shown. The 2 by 3 terminal array of the push pull pot switch maps exactly to the 2 by 3 terminal array of the DPDT switch. You may have to rotate the DPDT switch 180 degrees in its mounting hole to have the full/split positions where YOU want them. Leave the wires long enough to do this. Electronic Templates

The best place IMHO to locate a single toggle switch is between the volume/tone knobs. There it's out of the way you won't knock it while you're playing, but still accessible.
