I'm quite new to electric guitars, so forgive me if this is a stupid question. I have a squier telecaster, with texas special pickups. 4-way switch (bridge, both pickups in parallel, neck, both pickups in series). My bridge pickup is noticeably louder than the neck pickup, which makes sense, as I have it much closer to the strings. I expected that the second position, with both pickups in parallel, would be louder still, considering there are two pickups on. However, it's not. It's actually quite close to the neck-only sound and I can barely tell the difference. I'm sure both pickups are on (I touched the poles with a screwdriver). Is this to be expected?
Thanks, Pedro

Did you wire it yourself? If so check that you haven't accidentally reversed the pickup leads from either the bridge or neck pickup. If you have it the wrong way, Bridge/neck in series will sound different, and bridge/neck parallel will be quieter as the pickups are cancelling. Try swapping the wires from one pickup (either, but not both) and see if that makes a difference.

I bought it already like this. I never messed around with electronics before, so I think I will try to draw a diagram of the current wiring and post it here. If there's something wrong I suppose it should be obvious to you folks.
