Hi,
I just bought a Nashville style pickguard off eBay for my Tele that I'm looking to modify. The problem is that neck PU hole is Strat sized - too long and wide and the screw holes don't line up for my original Tele neck PU!! I thought of making a small oval shaped plastic panel sized to the pickup that would be held in place by the neck screws but I have no idea how to make one that won't have uneven cuts. I have a dremel tool and would love ideas about how to cut a good pro looking panel.
Your ideas are appreciated - Rock on!

well i know a way with a router. you get a pattern cut out of like 1/4' masonite or something similar(by hand). then you get a pattern bit for your router the bearing of the pattern bit rides on the template you have shaped and voila!. in your case i would try either of these 2 ideas, cut it by hand starting with your dremel and finishing with a fine file to even it up.use a rounded file for the rounded areas. the next way would be assuming you have a router base for your dremel. if you do, take your pattern you have cut out of 1/4 masonite place it on top of the plastic you want to cut. clamp or doule side tape them together so they dont move apart. know get your dremel router bit and leave a little of the shaft of the cutter extended from your dremel collet. this smooth section of the cutter bit rides on your template and cuts the exact shape as your template. this method also relies on the fact that you have a router base on your dremel. if not jut cut your piece of plastic by hand. starting with your dremel and finishing with files. just go slw little bits at a time and im sure you can get a pro style job. peace tell us how it went, damian
