Plastic Switches ground problem?

Just purchased some Radio Shack micro mini switches and didn't notice until I opened them that the bodies (cases?) are entirely made of plastic, even the threaded collar. The only metal are the contacts, the lever, washer and the nut. Is this a potential grounding problem? I'm starting an Ultra Strat mod and I'd hate to wire up 5 switches only to find out I should have used groundable ones ( not to mention that soldering micro minis are a bear!)

Welcome keving!

Grounding the body of the switch itself is generally not completely necessary. It's more of a best practice thing. I guess for shielding/noise reasons. If the switches themselves were inside a shielded cavity, it would just be redundant.

My bigger concern in your situation would be the mechanical reliability of these switches. How many flips do you s'pose you'll get out of 'em?

Hmm. Good point. I assume the levers have an internal stop rather than the plastic collar, but it most likely plastic on the insides as well. Thanks for the input. Back to the Shack!
