Proper Use Of The Design Modules Board

We hope you enjoy using the reference boards of GuitarNutz as much as we enjoy presenting them to you.  Since they're libraries of sorts, we need to treat the participation here a bit differently than the more casual boards of the forum.  Your compliance with the Rules/Recommendations will help us keep these areas neat and organized so everyone can find just what they're looking for, just when they need it.

Before we get to the heart of the matter, a definition is in order.  What is a design module?

A design module is a snippet of wiring the achieves a certain task.  For instance, a phase switch, or a series/parallel switch.  In some cases it's possible to create an entire wiring scheme by chaining these modules together.

How to Use:

Let's look at the various ways the modules presented on our board might be used/created.

1. Reading

   The information provided in these threads was presented to enhance the community knowledge. If the ideas contained added to your overall knowledge or your ability to teach others, we were successful but no acknowledgement is necessary unless you choose to do so.

2. Incorporation into your own wiring design

   None of these modules are trade secrets.  If the concepts you learned were used in creating a wiring diagram, no acknowledgement is necessary unless you choose to do so.
   

3. Copy/Paste into a post or thread on the Guitar Wiring board
   

   If you want help creating your own wiring diagram or choose to engage in a discussion about details, adding the quote of an entire post from the Design Modules board to your thread in Guitar Wiring is easy and encouraged.  Use the BBCode mode on the editor and copy-all to your clipboard.  You can paste that into your work in the Guitar Wiring board without submitting a post in Design Modules.
   

4. Presentation on another forum or site

   To prevent any appearance of plagiarism, use a link back to the post and cite the author.  Time was taken to create these modules.  Be sure to acknowledge those who provided the drawings and text.
   

5. Creation of your own Design Module thread
   

   We insist upon Original drawings created by you.  If you wish to post your drawing but aren't certain it will function properly, make a thread on the Guitar Wiring board first.  After all the details are hammered out there, you can create a thread here.
   

6. Posting to an existing Design Module thread
   

   If an existing thread is based on a schematic and you've made a wiring diagram (or vice-versa), feel free to post to the thread.  In many cases the threadstarter will edit his Opening Post to include your drawing and acknowledge your valuable contribution.
   

7. Showing appreciation for an existing Design Module
   

   Rather than clutter the thread with a thank you post, clicking the 'like' button will send a notification to the author which will indicate to him you've seen and appreciated his work.  Efficiency Is.
   

8. Requesting a new Design Module
   

   In the event you see a need for a module which doesn't currently exist, you are welcome to post in the Request a Module thread.  There's no guarantee a new module will be created, but it might be.
