Hi I could only find insulated ring terminals at my local electronics stores. They were cheap so I picked up a multi-pack and found that they are the perfect size for "quieting the beast," and that I could pull off the insulation with a pliers.
My question is, does an insulated ring terminal with the plastic insulate removed have the same conductive properties as an uninsuilated ring terminal? I.e. they aren't made of different materials?

They should be fine. Remember to re-insulate it, with electrical tape, after you've wired the star ground so the ring terminal doesn't contact any other conductor inside the finished guitar.
