so, up till recently all of my guitars have had just 2 pickups, whether HB or SC. only recently have i had the "luxury" of having a middle position pu. now, the main uses of neck and bridge pu's is obvious. ("rhythm" and "treble," as it says on the LP 3-way switch!) but i was wondering what other people out there use the middle pu for, whether by itself or in combination. just wondering...

Are the 3 coils single ? Humbuckers? A combination of those 2?

oops. thanks for clarifying--or asking for clarification, that is! (i forgot that there are those out there who actually do use 3 HBs in a row! ) i'm referring to single coils mostly, as found on strats and similar guitars.

Hmm, thinking about it, I tend to use the middle/bridge or middle/neck combo for clean tones and the middle alone for a good bluesy lead tone.

In guitars with 3 single coils, I only like using the bridge single coil on its own. I like using Neck & Middle (series and parallel) and middle & bridge (series and parallel).
