I just bought a used EpiPhone Special 2 guitar. I heard great things about these guitars, and I'm a newbie, so it really seems to fit my needs. However, I am experiencing a problem with the Tone Pot. When I use the neck humbucker, the tone and volume pots work great. When I use the bridge humbucker, I have to have the volume pot to 10, tone pot to 10, amp volume to 10, and the gain to 10. If I turn any of the controls down, they act like a volume control. That makes sense with the volume pot and the amp controls. So I think it is my tone pot. I have checked the wiring, and there are no loose wires. I also resoldered the bridge humbucker wires on the tone pot and the switch. Here is the wiring diragram: www.seymourduncan.com/pdfs/su...h_1v_1t_3w.pdfTo give you an idea of what the guitar looks like and the actual wiring I found this on the net of someone that modded the same guitar as mine: www.digitaldarrell.com/guitar...ndaPickups.aspThanks for your help! Hi empeyg, and Welcome to GN2! I can't get your link to work (because you've linked to the PDF). Is this what you have? www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=2h_1v_1t_3w... oops ... I can't get the other to work either. <empeyg - empeyg - clean up in the wiring department.> This guitar has one volume and one tone, is that correct? I don't think it makes sense that the tone would work with one pickup and not the other ... as a first step, can you take some readings by following the steps in this tutorial - that may lead us to the culprit. Cheers, D2o EDIT: Go to this link and read "The Test" 1/3 of the way down to see how to get the readings.

Greg,
Your two links are bad because they have ellipses in them. Normally, as shown in D2o's post, a link will be shortened by the forum's software - dunno why, but that's just what shows up on screen - underneath, the real link is complete, and should be good to go. You can easily see the proof of this by hovering over the link, and reading the status bar - are you seeing the real address, or the same thing as what's printed on the screen. Doing that to your initial post and then to D2o's link will show you what I mean.
However you did it, you've managed to enter the the text itself of a shortened version, not to the original address. That can be fixed by going back to each of the original addresses, copying them out of your browser's address bar, then pasting into a message here. (Alternatively, you can edit your initial posting in this thread, pasting the correct addresses over the old ones.)
I'll withhold comments until we see the results of your measurements, as per D2o's suggestion above.
HTH

The solution was a dirty switch. Sprayed it with some wissh (electronic cleaner) and I'm good to go. Sometimes, the simple solutions are the best solutions!
Thanks for alll your help!

You are welcome, Greg. We did nothing, as it turns out, other than maybe cause you to question whether it was the tone pot. Glad it worked out ... and simply, too! D2o
