www.1728.com/guitar3.htmI viewed a youtube video of a modified stratocaster, and the above schematic was linked to it via More Info. I don't really know what most of those terms are (for example, Single Pole Double Throw?). My experience is limited to having put a killswitch on my strat. My idea is to have two 2-way switches. The first one will be connected to the 5 way alone and will also be connected to the other two way. THAT 2-way will switch between Neck/Middle and Middle/Bridge. As for how to get them together, I would add two more wires: one that is soldered to both the mid and neck and one that is soldered to both the bridge and mid. Then they will be soldered to the two way that switches between them. I'm probably way off, but if anyone could provide some assistance, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Hello powerhead and welcome to the Guitar Nuts Message Board. That circuit to which you refer was desigend by RandomHero, a member here and www.1728.com is my website. I'd say the first thing you should do would be to familiarize yourself with those switch terms: Single Pole Single Throw and so on. A good place to start is: www.1728.com/project2.htm(Oh that's my site too. ) ******************************************* Edited to add that Sumgai posted 2 minutes before I did, and thanks Sumgai. ******************************************* Further edited to add "Thanks wolf, for reading my mind so quickly!" ;D

The first thing I did was go ahead and wire everything.
Actually, I went to Radioshack and bought the SPDT and DPDT switches. They're on the guitar now; the only problem was the SPDT had only two prongs, whereas in the illustration, it has three.
Long story short, I wired everything as it should be, except the neck and bridge are both connected to the one prong of the SP, and the middle pickup is looped in a circuit or something like that. I'll provide pics when I upload them.

The SPDT switch should have three prongs. Can you enter the catalog number OR go to www.radioshack.com and post a link showing that exact switch?

It had a slot for the third prong. I assume it snapped off somewhere prior to packaging and they didn't care enough to take it off the line.
I'll have to go ahead and buy another SPDT and then make the correct wirings, I assume?
I just pulled it out of a drawer at RS.

ph,
Yes, your SPDT should have all three solder tabs, just as your DPDT has 6 solder tabs. But be aware that you may have accidentally picked up an SPST, which was sitting in the wrong bin. Most often an SPST has only two solder tabs, with a third slot unused - the same casing is used for both types.
Check the packaging before returning it to RS with the intention of yelling at the clerk (who probably doesn't know as much about electronics as you do!) But if you haven't soldered anything onto it, then they should take it back.
HTH
