When I accidentally put a foot through the front of my Marshall AVT 100 combo amp a year or so back I was sad.
But time ticks on, and, like a phoenix from the ash, my amp has risen anew.
Long story short is that I have a 1x12 cabinet with a powerstrip in the back. The chord runs from the cabinet to the wall and all my gear plugs into the back of the cab. Cool, eh?
Well, I was unable to find a GFCI strip that suited my needs (budget) so I'm without that breed of protection at the moment.
Could I put some sort of fuse or breaker in the back of my box? I use it with a tube head now, so.. I could technically... maybe... perhaps... blow a tube and fry my pretty little butt right on stage, right? Any input on any of this? I'm going to be doing the same deal in the back of my 4x12 cabinet soon here, if all goes according to plan.

Jesse,
I don't know what your budget is, but I bought $25 power strip (from Lowes Hardware) which came with an oversized plug that contained a complete GFCI circuit - right there in the molding around the plug! I stripped out that cord and put it into my extra-long powerstrip (10 outlets, very wide spacing). Total cost was about $50, USD. and somewhat under an hour's time.
If you don't have a Lowes (or a Home Depot), check Menards. We don't have them out west, so I can't be sure, but they seem to be competitive with the other two, in most cases.

When I did the first one I checked Home Depot and they didn't have anything that was both GFCI and would mount flush with the back panel. Getting out with the GFCI on the plug end would be perfect. I'll check back when I get a chance to run up there again.

Done. I used a GFCI outlet instead of power strip.
At practice the other day I got annoyed with everyone mooching off my power strip, so I only gave it enough plugs for my head and my pedal.
Oh, and I also had an outlet handy, so it was free... which is always good!
I'll throw up a picture when I get some AA batteries. I killed about eight of them with my Tascam, and my mom won't let me use the ones from the TV remote again after last time.
