Hi, I picked up on your website via a discussion thread regarding this switch. I want to wire it so it gives me humbucker/coil-cut/out-of-phase. I know how to wire all of these individually on a regular 6 terminal switch, but not being technically inclined I do not know how to combine them on the one switch. Can you help? I tried to insert an image of the switch but I don't know how as I am a newbie. The Help area doesn't cover this topic.
Thanks, Joe

Joe- Sorry I had to move your thread, but it didn't belong in schematics. Don't sweat it, newbies get a mulligan! Hello and Welcome to G-Nutz2! To post photos: image postingWe'll need those, there are several different configurations of this switch. Also, am I correct that this is controlling just a single HB? Is it the type with 4 wires?

This is the switch I am referring to: I once had it wired in a Guild Bluesbird to give me HB/Single/Parallel so I'm pretty sure the HB/Single/Phase is possible. Here is a link to a thread from 2006 which discusses this switch: guitarnuts2.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wiring&action=print&thread=1111Probably some great information there but nothing I can understand. The switch is for a two humbucking pickup configuration. The out-of-phase I want is pickups out-of-phase with each other. Both pickups have 4 conductors. Thanks to everyone!

Hi joe - what you want to do is probably possible, but we need to know more about what you have in mind, and figure out more about that switch:
Is it the idea to have just one of these switches, and another normal toggle selector for chossing pickups?, or are there two of these switches (one for each pickup) plus another toggle?, or something else? ie, what is the whole control arrangement?
The other question to figure out is to work out what is connected to what in each switch position. With each group of three lugs, the centre lug will be the pole, and it will connect to the upper or lower outer lug in each of the lever positions. eg, a pole may connect to the top lug with lever down, and also with lever centred, then switch to the lower lug when lever is up. Other poles, instead of connecting down, down, up, will connect down, up, up. The problem is that we dont know which. We could guess: in most versions of this switch, with lever in the centre, the poles will connect, from left to right, down, up, down, up. But I suggest getting a multimeter and testing. If you dont have one, the cheapest yellow ones for $10 are fine, and very useful for guitar wiring. Set it to a low resistance range and methodically check each position to work out the switch cionnections.
cheers
John

Just one of these switches controlling both pickups (All humbucker/All split/out of phase) and a 3-Way switch for pickup selection.

it should be OK. but maybe not in that order, If the switch is like most 4 pole on-on-on toggles.
You could have
Humbuckers out of phase Humbuckers in phase Single coils in phase
or
Humbuckers in phase Single coils in phase Single coils out of phase
