Hello,
I'm wiring up Borsanova's "Twenty Dual" moded by John Hewitt rev B.
In the diagram it says " Bridge Only: Rotate magnet to swap long thin edges"
I'm a bit confused this statement. Do I:
A. Flip the magnet so the flat bottom is now the flat top?
or
B. Spin magnet so the left end is now the right end?
Any light anyone can shed on this will be greatly appreciated.
Robert.

Hi errlan and welcome
The idea of that statement was so that you could have coil cut on both pickups to give the screw coils, and have those screw coils a north on one pup and a south on the other, so they are hum cancelling in combination. It may or may not be necessary to do this magnet flip. Its only important if you are particular on which coils to coil-cut to. I suggest that on covered pups however, the screw coil is the one you want. On open pups, it is not so important, however it may affect the wire colours.
The wiring design also assumes that both pups are identical. ie, if you bring them together, screw to screw and slug to slug, do the magnets repel? Also, do you have Seymour Duncan wire colours?
If it looks like you want to do this flip, you will withdraw the magnet, rotate it 180 degrees about its long axis, so as you say, the flat bottom is now the flat top. In doing so, what is really important as a result, as I described it, is that the two long thin adges are reversed, because those are the magnets poles.
If you let me know what your pickups are, we can work this out and check the right wire colours for the diagram. Its worth getting this right, so as many combos as possible are humcancelling
cheers
John

Hello John,
Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out. It is greatly appreciated.
The pickups I have are a GFS neck and bridge set which I believe have the same wire color as Seymour Duncan.
When I put the pickups face to face, screws touching screws, the pickups repel.
Regards, Robert

OK, good info. Are they covered or uncovered? You might prefer not to tackle taking them apart, and if so, the single coil version of one pup would need to be its slug coil, and we can adjust wire colours to suit.

They are covered.
Getting the cover off was easy. I rotated the flat bottom to flat top and reassembled.
Now the pickups when face to face, screws touching screws, the pickups attract.
So it looks to me that following your wire color in the diagram Is what I should do.
Firing up the solder iron. I'll let you know how it turned out.
Thanks again, Robert
