Wired my strat for ssh. My 4 position is thin and weak.If I tap the pickups the all are on when they supposed to be. It's a fender hum. (mex.) i've got the red and copper groung on the vol pot. The green to the switch bridge pole. and the white and black together to the switch. Sounds like something out of phase. Texas specials for the singles. They worked perfect as all singles, just when i put the hum. in. Any questions just ask. Thanks.

traynorygl1- Hello and welcome to G-Nutz2! Your diagnosis of the problem sounds correct. In the regular HSS wiring, Position 4 gives you one coil from the HB in parallel with the mid pup. Now, you would think, since these are all "Fender" pickups that the polarities would have been worked out to be correct, but remember, Fender probably contracts their pickup manufacturing out these days, and suppliers have surely changed over time. So, no guarantees. Unfortunately, the fix means destringing it and removing the pickguard. Sorry, but that's the lot of all (non-rear-routed) Strat owners! Our reference page has the skinny on wiring colors here: Pickup wire colorsFender HBs are listed as: Red- South Start Black- South Finish Green- North Start White- North Finish The North is the slug coil, the South is the screw coil. With your wiring, the screw coil is the one selected. Now, you can't simply swap wires to the screw coil, or the HB coils will be out of phase at position 5. And you can't simply swap the green and red wires around, because that will just select the slug coil at position 4, which will still be OOP with the middle. You'll have to swap the leads for both the neck and middle pickups to bring everything back into phase. Otherwise, you'd need to flip the magnets on the HB, which can be done but is tricky on some pickups to do without damaging the pickup.

Also note that I was editing the above post "on-the-fly", so please reread it if you saw the earlier version as I amended it twice!

Thankyou very much, thanks alot for the fast reply. Swaping the red and green wires is what I thought, but thought i'd ask someone who knew before wrecking something. Decided to put back my bridge humbucker back in, since getting my new amp. I just love my new Traynor YGL1.. Well cheers, and i'll let you how i make out.
Thanks again !

If i switch the leads on the 2 singles. i won't notice any difference in the tones of the singles would I ? Dont know why its changed from before unless the Texas specials that I put in instead of the mex. stock PU's were diffenent. Anyway i'll try the singles swap. Thanks again, Chris

And, no, your singles will sound the same either way around.
