Hi Is it possible to get more than the three basic sounds( N, N+B, and B) of a 2 pup tele, by using a 5 way strat switch? My own preference is for NxB as opposed to any oop combo. Thanks in advance

If you use a 5-way superswitch, no problem, you can have anything you like. And if an Oop option is not wanted, then the 5th sound could be maybe B in series with N, with N partly bypassed, for example.
Using a standard Strat 5-way however, its a bit clunky and ends up something like N, N+B, B, B, BxN, but with some hanging coils. A better option for a Tele is to keep the standrad 3-way and just add one dpdt toggle to over-ride it into a series mode.

You could get N-B (or B-N) out of it, but you end up with a position essentially redundant. It could go one of two ways:
N, N+B, B, B-N, -N or B, N+B, N, N-B, -B
I think that's just weird, though!
If you wire it like a tele, but replace the jumpers on each side with caps you could get the tree standard tones in the middle with bass-cut singles on either side. You might experiment with different values and possibly parallel resistors to fine tune.
Course, if you had a Superswitch...

Thanks in advance Paging the Baja Telecaster 4-way Switch..... Paging the Baja Telecaster 4-way Switch..... Thanks in advance I think the answer to this is essentially "Yes - but it doesn't result in particularly intuitive controls." Sumgai's Four-Way Tele switch is a big leap forward. Newey has also just posted about a narrower four-pole five-way-throw 'superswitch' that will fit snugly in a Tele if you're prepared to pay for it to be shipped to Ireland. Buy one of those, and the world is your oyster.
