Hello.
I am considering venturing into the world of recording for the first time, and would like to know if anyone has had any experience with the Zoom R8.
My ambitions are modest, and do not (a) exceed capturing live sound at small gigs and (b) making reasonably competent-sounding demos at home.
I’d originally thought of the Line 6 UX1, but the Zoom R8 seems more versatile in several respects.
The one drawback it seems to have concerns the drum machine function being a little limited and eating up tracks, but I would not be averse to using a dedicated external drum machine. I prefer not to deal with actual drummers, having learned the hard way over a period of many years.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Simes

I have no experience with the Zoom box, but I do have a PodStudio UX1. I won't take it off the desk in the studio. The R8 looks a lot more flexible. The faders alone have me thinking... Need to sell some crap before I can make that upgrade! Anyway,

Who else saw the irony..... ash's signature has two links. After that Drum-Free America poster, what do you think the first several videos have in them? That's right, a drummer! Perhaps that's why he posted the the second link, albeit sadly it's on FaceBook instead of a real website. Nice one, ash, way to start a guy's day! ;D sumgai

Need to sell some crap before I can make that upgrade! Personally I find that availability of funds is a relatively minor concern when compared to overcoming the SJH*, which must be carefully planned, perfectly timed and impeccably executed. *Spousal Justification Hurdle
