Here is a new reggae song of ours with some swing thrown in just for good measure. A few friends reckoned the swing was wrong but we liked it! So................ Hope you like it. Get back and tell me what ya think! "The Marshall Kenyon Band" soundcloud.com/famularo/i-do-as-i-want-mastered

Funny, but you just popped in at the top of my SoundCloud stream this morning as I was reading your post...I'm reading and thinking, "Man, I know this guys voice...and that guitar sure sounds familiar..." I like it. Ignore your friends...the swing is cool and works perfectly in the song. You guys aren't exactly slaves to any genre anyway, so keep following the voices in your head. And to the rest of you out there, if you haven't checked out the other songs they've done at The Marshall Kenyon Band you're missing out....especially Destiny Road. You guys have been quite prolific of late. Glad to see someone is still cranking them out. Hats off, mate. Happy Trails Cynical One

Thanks mate! The swing happens when the Bass goes from a Reggae type of playing to a swing type of playing after each chorus, then goes back into reggae again.
I had a bass player in the last band we were in who argued with me that it was wrong and poor taste. But we like it and we wrote it so.....................
Thanks for the nice comments!!

The Swing is RIGHT there!! Haha, ok, gotcha. I think it's in fine taste. Since it's still on the beat, you still have that contrast with the syncopated guitar, which I think makes reggae reggae.

That really is good reggae, peppercorn! The swing fits perfectly. Love the drums and bass, not to mention everything else. Well done! Off to listen to more of your stuff.............
