Ok, if this is the right place to post and if I can get the schematic pic to post, here is my problem. The bridge pup is hot all the time and that's not what I want. I have my suspicion as to the problem, but I'd like to get some input before I start re-changing things. This is my fist effort at rewiring a guitar so be gentle

Hello and Welcome to G-Nutz2!
The diagram basically looks OK, except that the wire running from the other half of the 5-way switch to output (that is, the single wire on the right-hand side of the 5-way, opposite from where the pickups are wired) appears to be superfluous and could be removed. However, this doesn't explain your problem, unless something else is inadvertently touching that connection.
If the bridge pickup is "on" regardless of the position of the 5-way switch, check to see that there isn't a stray strand of wire from the bridge pup "hot" touching elsewhere on the 5-way- (like, for example, contacting that other piece of wire I just mentioned.)
Otherwise, a faulty switch is also a possibility. To test it, you'd need to de-wire it, so checking other possibilities is the first thing to do.
Sometimes a "gut shot" photo of the cavity wiring, provided the resolution is good, will disclose likely problem areas.

Ugh, it's looking like the switch is bad. This is in a Squier Standard and I replaced everything under the hood except the neck and mid pups. I'm going to see if the original (cheesy enclosed) switch is still usable before I invest another $10. May the solder deities look upon me favorably.

Ok, I put the cor-tek 5 way back in it and it all seems to be functioning as expected (got rid of the extra wire as well.) I put it all back together and reached into my box 'o strings and came up with only a partial set, lol. Guess I could have planned that better. I need replacement knobs as well. Oh well, it's a good excuse to visit the music store. Thanks for the input!
