Hey John! Hoping you catch this... This design Strat SP hss
has been on my to do list for a couple of years. The Son-o and I are about to do a batch of builds.... well, maybe Son-o will act as designated tech rather than me. We have come up with some interesting additional mods to with your 2 volume strat design ( John's 2 Volume Strat) which has been a reliable design that has been successfully used in a number of Strats. But I have always been curious about this the SP HSS. From your description: Does this mean that when, for example: a Neck/Bridge[Hum-single] in phase would be in a North/South combination --- but when put into OoP ---- that it would then go to a North/North combination? If so that is pretty durn clever. Thanx RW

Hi RW..yes that's right, Gotta get the pickup polarties/ wire colours right to make it happen though! What kind of pickups would it be? J Not quite that far along yet. Just inventoried parts that have accumulated and uncovered some humbuckers that are good candidates. Son-o and I have over the last 2 years been buying and testing Strat singles to try to nail a classic Strat sound at a reasonable, no, make that cheap, price. We ran across several that nearly hit the sweet spot, but have settled on a surprising winner. Have one last test to do as they come in either flat rod or staggered rod magnet versions and we have only tested the flat rod types. We will post up findings when complete, but on the HSS the SSs will be those singles. We found an absolutely vicious Artec version of a Dimarzio X2N that is surprisingly warm, musical and generates rich harmonics when pushed. I have in the past eschewed ceramics but have finally found a few that have changed my mind, and this is one of them. I lean towards that one or an old and hot G&B I forgot I had. More to come when we get closer. Clever indeed on the SP HSS humcanceling optimization. RW
