Question about how to wire my 3-way switch

Hello all,

I am working on my first guitar build and I am at the wiring stage. I am using a stew mac "Complete wiring kit for Gibson® Les Paul®". The 3-way switch in that kit is pictured below. I am following this diagram that is pictured below. My question is, where do I solder the wire for the middle of the 3-way switch (the right side of the switch on the diagram). On the switch you can see 2 pairs of metal tabs. I know that I solder the wire to these, but according to the diagram I need to solder one wire to both of the inside tabs. Am I understanding this correctly?

If you look at your master volume circuit, you will see that the switch has five wafers, each connected to a soldering terminal. The one connected to the middle goes to the pot "ground" return.
The outside two go one to each pick up hot lead.
On the switch in the photo, it looks as though of the four tags (looks like two pairs) you should count them 1-2-3-4 and short numbers 2 and 3 together sending this to the pot "signal" tag, and therefore 1 and 4 should be the ones going to the pick up hot leads.
This means that the tag on the opposite side, being the only one left must (as Sherlock would have said) be the ground.
These switches vary so the foregoing is an attempt to relate the switch in the image with your proposed master volume circuit.
If you are going to use individual pick up pots then the outside tags should go one to each pot "signal" tabs.

Looks like b4nj0 has got you on the right track. Those 3-way switches do differ from brand to brand, but you can see how they operate if you operate the switch and observe the connections. All should then be clear.
