I know that my memory is becoming increasingly unreliable, but I believe that one of our luminaries has a (declared) birthday today?
Many happy returns Newey and many more to come!

Indeed! I brought a cake. Fortunately there's a fly on it.

Now that's a cake that we can all continue having, long after it's been eaten! newey, hope the polar bears aren't out this year, as you go for the next iteration of "Where on this frozen planet is newey playing guitar?"!

Happy birthday newey!
You keep this place humming and buzzing (the right kind of hum and buzz!), which is very much appreciated.
cheers John

...what month is it over there right now??? That's it, remind us that you celebrate Christmas by throwing something on the barbie... at the beach. Way to go there, you geographically challenged thread derailer!

Thanks for all the well-wishes, guys! I was enjoying a holiday hibernation ("hibernation" in the modern sense of the word, meaning no internet access) and wasn't able to respond in a timely fashion.
And this year's new avatar will have to await some actual(northern hemisphere) winter weather- which we had a'plenty back in November, but none since. I usually try to spend my birthday skiing, but no chance of that this year, with rain and temps hovering around 50°F.

Well, let me snap out of the coma long enough to wish you a Happy Birthday. Not sure where I was on this for the past week, but I hope I enjoyed it, too.
Sounds like you got the weather we were supposed to have out here in Oregon...where it is now January...just for reference...
Happy Trails -
Cynical One
