I am glad I did not give up on this project. I was just rockin out playing some Quicksilver and this guitar is fun. Since these are my pickups in a donor neck & body, I am very happy with the tone, ranging from Dark and tangy ( 8.4k Bridge ) to the neck more open tone at 7.5k.

[ Now that this is up and running, a question about options. In the middle position, the tone is a bit Peter Green. Its ok and different but I wonder if I could get a different flavor going, more the traditional Neck + Bridge tone? Ange Love to hear back from anyone that has a set like this about the nature of the middle position sound. Is that meant to be out of phase? attachment id="789" thumbnail="1"] Attachments:

If the Peter Green tone is relating to 'out of phase', its easy to test. Check out the Screwdriver Pulloff Test in our reference section.
If, when you set the middle position, you are getting pulses in opposite directions from the two pickups with both engaged, then that is the issue. It can depend on the way the magnets are placed relative to your coils. The diagram would still be basicly right, but you would fix it by swapping the start and finish wires for each coil of one of your pickups.
The middle position is the only setting where both pickups are involved, so it can be fixed if required, without affecting other tones.
Test first, then discuss more...

Hi, I did have a phase issue, due to a color code error on my Part. Once I took the time do the analog test of each bobbin i Was back on track. This layout works perfectly, and provides all The options I was looking for. One can use the parallel mode as A base line vol/tone and then jump to the series connection for leads.
Cheers. A

Report on this switch setup - while I do like the variations of this switch, I doubt I would do it again, 2&4 are less useful than I expected. This switch setup is also a bit more noisy than I would have thought. I don't see that there is any hanging open junctures, but there is some low level hum, unlike other humber guitars. Any thoughts on that?
BTW I did make up a similar guitar for my nephew who is a jazz player, and he loves it.
