Wednesday Greg Lake passed away after "a long and stubborn battle with cancer".
I don't know how many of you remember the first incarnation or King Crimson, but I'm sure most of you have heard of Emerson, Lake and Palmer.
The world lost an honest musician.

The obit in the NYT had an anecdote. Apparently, Lake wrote "Lucky Man" when he was 12 years old, and never did anything with it until ELP needed an extra track to fill out their album. The rest, as they say, is history . . .
I've always liked my rock music to be more of the "three chords and a cloud of dust" variety, but I appreciate that they tried to take the music somewhere further. And that first album was just dandy, back when a synth still sounded . . . alien.
