Hi everyone:
A long time ago, I made a video explaining the topic of Strings Height. Now that I'm part of this fórum, I think someone can find it useful. Sometimes, people don't measure strings action simply because they don't have a reliable tool to compare. It's usually a matter of taste, but some guideness may be useful for someone.
You can download a DIY gauge that you can print for nothing: www.mediafire.com/view/as9740s5r48roai/Strings_action_gauge.pdf
And this is my explanation on the topic:

Sorry, Carlos, but I had to move this thread as it didn't belong in Guitar Wiring. In any event, it's an excellent treatise on the topic, so I'm "sticky-ing" it right away.
Good job!

Hi Carlos, this is helpful! Nice trick with the reference to 10cm. So one is supposed to cut this and stick it to some card-board and cut into the same shape? Just a question : why are the images twice ? The way I measure action height is with a feeler gauge, or with the help of a pick, or just with the feel and the sound, if it doesn't buzz it ain't low enough

I'm glad that you find this useful. You can cut it and stick it as you say, but my printer was capable to print directly on cardboard, so everything was more inexpensive and easy. I made two drawings in the same paper sheet just for you to have two tries to cut. There was empty room in the A4 ubiquitous sheet of paper, so why waste it? Probably, your previous method of adjusting is the best (seriously), but sometimes it's good to have some way to compare.
