With this , I fret dressed my Carvin! This morning, at around the 12 o'clock, my American girl, whom I had found in a miserable condition 20 years ago at a second-hand shop in Mesogeia, came in for: leveling, dressing, crowning, installing bushings/studs for the floyd (replace the old -style screws) ..... The highlights: - leveling / dressing / crowning is now very easy. The "sweeping" method of painting for fast crowning is very effective. I used for this step 320 (leveling) sanding block with this modified sanding block, which I even left intact because I will use it also in the ARZ800 which also has 12 Radius, followed by 500, 1200 (for crowning) + crowning file, which I used at the end. Then steelwool as fine as possible (I can not find anywhere 0000 except in the skroutz, the old one had every supermarket). - Steelwool does wonders on the freatboard . Be sure to protect the magnets before applying the steelwool. Here I will simply say I did NOT put any protective tape in the whole process. Of course it is about the Carvin who was never the model of reliability and durability, so I will not let go if something goes wrong, but general application of steelwool to the frets and the fretboard in the same pass has very good results - By installing the inserts / bushings I took a bit of a effort, some "creative" interventions were made, but eventually everything was good. The initial holes were 5-6 mm. The bushing has a diameter of 10mm. What I did and recommend to anyone working with hardwoods (this is a maple) was to open an 8mm hole, then 9mm, and finally 10mm. Then nailing with plastic-rubber hammer. - the action went VERY LOW, at some stage, my head swirled, how doesn't it buzz?, I raised it for reasons of common sense. In the "unhappy moments", I redid the intonation, and the saddle bolt of low E went belly up. I had spare parts from Ibanez but did not need it at the moment. Photoz:
