I've had this body and neck for almost ten years now. spent more on the one piece swamp ash body and birds eye maple/rosewood neck than I ever have for a whole guitar but my lifestyle at the time prevented me from having the patience and presence of mind to finish it properly, so a half-assed attempt to dye it black (ended up like a dark bronze and I didn't even bother filling in the chasm-like grain) and rattle can spar urethane applied on an apartment porch provided me with less than ideal results so I decided to strip this and give it the love and attention it deserved. filled the grain with 2 part epoxy (some guys on the bass forum have had luck with marine epoxy but I do not finish enough things to justify the expense. this jb weld epoxy was like 7 bucks for probably more than I'll ever use) and sanded back I initially wanted it blonde but told my better half (who is also my wall paint color-chooser) "amber" ago that is what she helped my eyeball with the wood dye so I dyed the wood, and added some dye yup the water-based poly I sprayed with a 6g compressor and lvlp spray gun from home depot still can't seem to avoid runs so the next body I paint I think I shall try horizontally I need more work on my finish sanding/polishing routine but that's only something I will see and this is meant to be played I shall include one 'before' shot so that you can see where I started from: wiring is 3 position blade switch (I can find the quack in between settings if I need them, but for most of the stuff I play being able to avoid those unintentionally is quite helpful 3pdt switch selects between blade selector with parallel (250k 33nf) tone pot and bridge and middle pickup in series (selector completely bypassed) with series tone pot (500k 22nf) other switch is jaguar-style strangle switch (spdt because I don't see a reason to stock spst switches, 3nf cap). 500k volume pot plays and sounds killer. legit was getting misty-eyed as I strung her up

Hey thetragichero, this thread seems like a good fit for The Lutherie. I can move it there for you, if you like. There's some sort of burly action happening there right now but nothing to be alarmed about. lol

i'm cool with that I glossed through the wiring and didn't post my scribbled diagram figuring out how to do it (checked approximate resistances with switching before installing any screws, worked first time!), so it didn't work in wiring some of the backstory stuff would be coffee shop also don't consider myself a luthier (I was on a forum where somebody mentioned cleaning with either denatured or drinking alcohol, and which you have depends on whether you're a luthier or musician), but i'm learning. next up is a 5 string jazz bass from some decades old wood that was used in some built in cabinets I removed from one of the bedrooms
but yes you may move
