This is as close to political commentary as I wanna get. For several years now, you've been trying to get me (and Mrs. gai) to come down there for a visit. In light of the recent violent erosion of basic human dignities Down Under, I'm pretty sure that won't be happening any time soon. Time to extend the invitation in the other direction. Seeing as how your country's leaders are doing their best to out-Trump our Liar-in-Chief, I thought I'd take a moment to remind you that we have an extra bedroom available, and some additional room for Kit-Kat to run around as well.
Quoting PM Scott Morrison (after yet another AFP raid on journalists' homes and offices): “It never troubles me that our laws are being upheld.”
Indeed. Sir, I submit to you that if you can't have an omelette without breaking a few eggs, then perhaps you should question the need for having an omelette in the first place.
That is all.

I had three sunny-side-ups with biscuits and corned beef hash for dinner yesterday and omelets for a late breakfast today. I've broken a half-dozen eggs in the past 24 and feel no remorse whatsoever. 😛

We have a hard time keeping up with our chickens production, so we give alot away. I like 'em over-easy, which I learned living in LA. Sumgai, you should come down here anyway! You can always leave your press-pass at home. Its not a bad place really and we promise Mrs Gai will be safe.

OTOH, Mr. Pinocchio has uttered no less than 10,011 outright falsehoods or misleading statements, and that was the count as of April 27 of this year. (Bingle doesn't want to give me any thing more current.)
The omelette he's been eating is so overcooked that it's a wonder he doesn't die from apheganiahephus disease!
John,
Technically, the plans are still on the burner... somewhere... as soon as I get the bleepin' stove installed!

Over-easy is good, too. Just so the yolks are runny but the whites aren't. My niece has a decent amount of land and has chickens (and a few ducks). She also had a male turkey we called Mr Turkey until he turned mean and started attacking her kids. They we changed his name to Dinner. The yolks on store-bought eggs are pale in comparison. A sunny yellow-orange. The yolks on the eggs from her chickens are a reddish-orange.

Truth is...I reckon that I could probably write a reasonably-sized book about how I feel about all this.. ...although I also realise that not many people would really be all that interested.
I have a number of theories on how and why this country is in the mess that it is currently .... all of them contain a certain amount of speculation that is gradually being proved more correct on a daily basis..most depressing...
I contain my anger and try to preserve my sanity by continuing to live under a rock in the middle of (almost) nowhere, and attempting to keep my head below the uppermost level of the trench that I have dug around the place...not exactly what I would have expected only a few short years ago.
The 'Global Politics Community' is having a wonderful time doing the TimeWalk...only they are taking TWO steps to the Right.. ...and those steps seem to be quickening in pace while so many people just sit back and eat their omelettes.
Perhaps this is all just incoherent ramblings of a GuitarNutter who got even older this weekend.... ...perhaps not.
I think I'll just continue to have cereal for breakfast, in the (failing) hope that I will one day wake up to a brighter morning.
Peace to all...may you get up in the morning to find that your intonation hasn't slipped overnight.

Note to sumgai:
You're (both) still welcome here...probably what we need to do is compare depths of our respective Survival Trenches to see which might best serve our future needs....and then make a decision based on that.
Good luck with Your Lot.... ..it will be interesting to see if Our Lot manages to raise the stakes of The Game:
"It troubles me that our Politicians are being upheld." .... g-f-b
**** PLEASE NOTE ****
Returning this thread to its original intention IS in fact a derailment ... OK ?
The Department of Chickens advises that no eggs were harmed in the writing of this post.

it's almost as if founding a nation on the backs of committing genocide of indigenous peoples instills a deeply-rooted sense of racism in its people, one that they're mostly blind to the fact of.
weird.
