Not really a fan of either, but I respect Anthrax as one of the more intellectual metal outfits out there, their lyrics always seemed more thoughtful than most.
But regardless, how was the show?
This is my summer to see geriatric rock bands, I have tix for The Who in September (figure it'll be my last chance to see the remaining members) and also for Joan Jett and Heart in August. Not a big Heart fan, but the wife and I both love Joan. Saw Big Head Todd and the Monsters w/ Toad the Wet Sprocket a couple of weeks ago, was a great show in a nice intimate venue.

Hi Newey, Anthrax surely were unique , in the sense that they combined : thrash metal, punk/hardcore/crossover , rap and hip hop, a funny style, really good music and lyrics (sometimes prophetic !), while at the same time being .... heavy metal!! Today, Avenged Sevenfold and Slpiknot are considered metal, but this was not the case back then. Thrash metal was a completely different animal than heavy metal. Ok, some roots were in metal and hard rock, but there were loads of punk and crossover influences as well! Thinking about the big 4, Metallica besides thrash/hardcore/punk/hardcore had also the classic metal aspect, but their vocals were on hard rock side! Megadeth, no idea, some generic thingy, never a big fan, Slayer was strictly thrash/black/death, exodus 100% thrash. So from them all, the only ones to have a singer that could sing 80s metal was Anthrax!!
so cool.
Disturbed ( a big fan as well) was cool. Too bad I was exhausted from the non-stop slams, jumps, headbanging with Anthrax that I couldn't keep up past 23:30. My son was under the sun also since 17:00 , we were really tired, we left at 23:30 so we missed quite a few Disturbed hits.
nevermind, next time!
