I need to stock up on mini toggle switches and buy some caps and maybe some other bits and bobs like wire I’ve had a look around and some of the prices are quite high just for one switch , but maybe that’s justified in quality , I dunno For example

I've experienced some of those mega cheap-o switches. I bought several batches on eBay from the land of the rising yuan. It was a bit of a lottery- with some the thread stripped on the facia nut while tightening, with others the toggle fell off and even the whole switch disintegrated on a couple. My failure rate was about 7 out of 10, and I keep wondering about the survivors. Given that those switches are all likely to be made in the same factories, I would now look upon all of them with distrust. They all look alike to me and it's no surprise. Years ago they looked pretty much the same, but they definitely weren't.
e&oe ...

They don't list one, which is certainly odd, since On-Off and On-On would seem to be the most common.
Noted that the parentheses (e.g., "On-(On)") refers to a switch with spring-loaded momentary actuation, not what you want.

The cost about £1 to £1.50, and yeah , loads of mine broke when trying to fix them to the pickguard, pretty flimsy. Here’s what they look like so, I did a bit of research and found these which were the next level in price and the first to be branded and meet some sort of standards. I also noticed switches costing as much as £50 ? They must be bulletproof/waterproof etc. Just wondering what kind of money is worth spending for a balance of quality /longevity. Maybe the ones I posted up top from WD Music have a justified cost. Hmmm

I don’t know if the British label things different? I’ve noticed on eBay if I find a switch it might say DPDT on on, but then when you click on it there might be another section saying on-none-on , or something like that

Here’s an example . I thought if it had 2 throws , it can only be in one of two positions , either up or down .

Sadly I just order in bulk from China eBay or Alibaba, whatever it's called and wait. RS CPC Are the biggest players bit eBay if you find it right for UK look at delivery due dates and the sellers location

Frets, Clarion, 'Bunny, and all the other newer members (all y'all seem to be from Britain as well): In the past, those of us here "in the Colonies" have been available to source certain pieces for members elsewhere, where costs are prohibitive. This works well so long as the items in question are few in number and small, so that they can be cheaply and easily shipped in one of those bubble-wrap lined envelopes via parcel post. Any issues with customs, Brexit, etc. are perforce your problem, but we have successfully done so in the past without trouble, just declare the stuff as a birthday gift or whatever. Even with mailing costs, it can still be cheaper.

Thanks Newey, I traditionally use Tayda, of course Ebay, Stew Mac and Thompson Guitar and Thrift (who give a good discount if you ask). This is a timely message as I’m doing an inventory and reorganization of my parts . I have a lot A LOT of parts. So, if anyone is in need of a certain part, they can PM me and I’ll try and see if I can help them out. This offer is good for all the frequent flyers of the Forum.
