I am building a Eric Clapton style guitar with gold lace sensor pickups, putting in a hardtail strat bridge he blocks his anyway. I need help on the TBX circuit is there two styles one powered and one not and how would you put in a battery box so you do not need to remove the pickguard everytime what is the best shematic you know with this ??
Thanks

The EC Strat has a mid-tone boost circuit that is basically a powered pre-amp. A TBX control is passive, not powered; it is 2 concentric pots linked with a cap and resistor that basically cuts trebles (=more bassy) in one direction and cuts bass (=makes it more trebly) in the other direction. I like them, I fitterd one to my MIM tele recently. For a battery compartment, the guitar body is normally routed out from the rear then a small rectangle of pickguard-like material screwed over the hole once the battery is in. If you search the Fender website, they will give a schematic for the Clapton strat, or go to Guitar Electronics dot com where they sell an EC mid-tone boost pack.

eric, If one can shop from American parts houses, Mouser has this to offer: Mouser Battery HolderOther parts houses might call it a 'battery receptacle', but the idea is the same. Enjoy your googling! sumgai

So this circuit was made passive and powered ?? hi Monradon, if you read Flateric's post very carefully, i think you'll find, he was telling you there are 2 things that distinguish the EC Strat from a standard strat: 1 - the passive TBX control 2 - the active, battery powered mid-boost circuit. hope that helps. unk

EC (and others) block their trems cos they still want the springs - doesn't the legendary Eric Johnston also do this? - they add some resonance and sustain to the tone. My preference would also be for a blocked trem rather than a hardtail, so your plans should not be thwarted!
