Hi, I'm a newbie here. My understanding level is not so fluent electonic knowledge wise. I understand wiring diagram as a blueprint, but cannot figure out much as flow of current and voltage Anyway, I'm thinking of getting Fernandes Nomad, which is a travel guitar with only one bridge pickup, and adding some tonal variation. I have about 6 guitars but I always wanted to have small travel one. What I would like to do is basically add an option to make it sounds like more than a bridge pickup, that is making it sounds like middle or neck pickup. I've been looking around to find a circuit that might do what I want, but having no luck so far. Then i come across Bill Lawrence Q-filter. Having read reviews, it would add acoustical elemnts to the pickup so the pickup emulates acoustic or semi hollow body. It's only $20 and much cheaper than adding piezos. This could be an option that I can do. Is there any other mod that i can add to achieve various sounds with only one pickup? Anybody knows preamp or EQ circuit which does that?

From a wiring perspective you can get 6 different configs from a single humbucker:
1. Series, thickest and most powerful. Humcancelling 2. Parallel, Humcancelling, at half the DC resistence it has a thinner sound than the series config, almost but not quite single coil sounding 3. Coil One alone, single coil, strat-like but still different. 4. Coil Twoalone, single coil, strat-like but still different. 5. Out of Phase (OoP), Series. Much thinner sounding than the the Series in phase wiring. Kinda of jangly and disjointed. 6. Out of Phase (OoP), Parallel. Thinist of the thins. Kinda of jangly and disjointed. More of a novelty tone.
There may be some argument about the validity of the descriptions but sounds are in that direction, and descriptions are subjective.
So one pup has a lot of options, but you did not describe your desired switches - tone, no tone, 5-way blade, toggles, rotary -- or the number holes you are willing to punch for additional or fewer switches.
At least on the tone control, that is another attenuator. Also, geometry of pup location. Closer to the bridge brighter but less string amplidude (loudness). Further from the bridge, more mid and bass, higher amplidude string vibration.
