Hey guys, can you help me with this? I've got my mexican tele gutted and ready to recieve texas specials with the shielding mod. The wiring diagram with the TS's is a bit different than the stock wiring the tele came with. The Neck PU has three wires. One is an isolated ground for the cover (yellow). I was thinking about connecting the yellow wire to a ring connector and then to the shield on the pickguard where the PU screws to the guard... then run the black wire to the star ground. Will that create a ground loop? The cavities are connected to each other in a few places too. Will that create a ground loop? I want to make sure I get this concept straight as I am quickly becoming a perfectionist with my wiring. The qtb mod is kinda hazy for the tele so I was going to apply all the fundamentals from the strat one. I have the isolation cap and will not be soldering to the pots. Am I on the right track here? Thanks.

that all sounds right to me.
if you checked with a meter, to make sure that yellow wire was not connected to the coil, and just the cover, i think connecting it to the shielding system is exactly the right plan.
consider the shielding as one system and all the cavities should be connected together. i wouldn't worry if they are connected at multiple points, more that they are ALL connected together.
the signal system is where you want to be more conscious of ground loops.
the shielding and the signal ground should be connected together at only one point, either through the "isolation" cap, as you are planning, or directly, for those who chose not to use one.
i think you are more than on the right track.
it sounds like you have thought this out well.

EDIT:
that thing about using another, similar, article from the same author, to fill in details that were sketchy....
....that makes perfect sense to me. and that concept can be applied in lots of circumstances.
