A friend of mine needs help with his Squier Showmaster, H-H with 3way. The strange thing is this 3-way switch has 7 pins on the back, and all the Squier wiring diagrams show a 3-way with 8 pins. Anyone know the pinout diagram for this switch? or a diagram that shows it with 7 pins?
thanks, Paul

While I can't say for sure, many of the less expensive switches have only one common lug instead of the usual two. This is very common on import Strat-types with the 5-way switch, but I don't recall seeing a 3-way like that. Having only one common lug means you have a one-pole switch instead of the usual two, which makes wiring a bit easier for the manufacturer.

In that case, is it fair to say that the center lug is probably the same as the two center lugs (connected) on an 8-pin switch?

x, Yes, that's a fair assumption, but you know what the word "assume" does, don't you? ;D
Best to use a multimeter to make sure, before you wire it back up.
