Thanks for the good advice never thought of a keyboard/bass amp. He plays occasionly in nursing homes and plays the bass until he sings or they want a lead then he plays his guitar. We have power for the other stuff this is just for the really small gigs playing mostly old timey stuff and old country with a little bluegrass and get this his favorite rock and roll stuff is the older stuff how lucky can a Dad get.

He right the neck is better than I have seen on alot of strats I have seen , I have one and I have this fantasy of a different body but my neck is great wood but sharp ends on the frets and nut slots too small but a great neck and the electronics are decent still not sure what the push pull switch is for maybe some one can explain that too me . Send email if you know monradon@msn.com

I am restoring a Electra Hollow Body its a ES 335 copy and its either a 2228 or 2229 . My question is if I lay a straight edge on the neck how high off the body app. should I be ?? I am building a new bridge and being this is almost like a acoustic shouldnt the neck be adjusted like one ?? This will help me determine how much wood to take off the bridge I am shaping it to the body shape like on a violin any one done this ??

I have to find my old books but this looks just like what they used to call I think a false fret on guitars years ago and for some reason the style went out but going to have to find where I saw it they used to be on higher end guitars

A friend that knew about my project brought over a couple of necks to look at he is using on a couple of his projects and I was impressed at the workmenship. The shape of the headstock is different from Fender. They are made by Johnson and five times the quality of some of the Squier necks I have seen if they play as nice as they look they should sound good anyone know anything about them

Hi guys its been awhile but I lost one of my notes.
You guys recommend 1uf and 220k resistor bleed combo for humbuckers and 500k pots.
2uf and 100k resister for single coils and 250k pots for single coils right if my memory is right.
I built a tele for a friend from out of town that I put on the bleed combo on the volume control. Well he and everyone else loves it for the sound but I lost my notes I got from you when I did it. Now a couple of his members want me to rewire theirs .
One thing I added new to my bench this year is a Extech MN26 meter to check just about everythin, and I am more fussy on how far the pots can be off and the caps . I try to match pairs like pots and caps and it seems to really make a difference ??

I am getting confused If you are not using shielding its OK to use the back of the pot as ground right If you are shielding using that ground causes ground loops ?? When I draw the circuit out I can not see the difference when shielding because the pots ground them selves to the shielding right Any recommendations of reading would help , I thought I was good at electronics but this one is going over or through my head.

Someone from here is telling my buddy that the pot bodies either vol or tone should not be grounded because it causes a ground loop On gibson style pickups I been grounding the pots for years ?

Hobbit here and the meter is a Extech MN26 and it does almost everything and its very reasonable , the cap checker is very accurate. By the way the caps I got from a guitar place got home and checked them they were so far off I would have to put three in parallel to get a 22uf cap. Went down to Radio Shack and bought some and checked them and right on the money better made and guess what they were cheaper .

So in a older guitar with the markings 50P would probably be really .05uf right ?? Got a new meter that also checks caps a Extech 26 its amazing how many caps I found already way out of tolerance

Where do you guys get your pots , caps and stuff. Would like to buy from one place if possible . I need tandem pots and regular ones both long and short shafts and the caps if they carry them. Someone got a good place, went down to Radio Shack yesterday to see what they carry now, well they still got good meters and soldering irons but are not a electronics store anymore

Thanks again , that was the one I printed out and I couldn't find anything wrong with it so was wondering what I was missing. I picked up a book Guitar Electronics for Musicians by Donald Brosnac and is really explaining things I always wondered about and kind of ties everything together for me . Getting just enough knowledge to be dangerous.

JohnH you guys would believe the wood I found for the top a nice quilted maple and a nice alder back. Also I have a vision to mount this all without a pickguard going to have to do a scrapbook . Did I lose the picture of the shematic you fixed before you put the extra switch in it I can not seem to find it , I have the one where you said the tone was wired wrong but can not seem to find the one where it is wired right.

Hey this is great what sizes for the treble bleed caps One other question is the 22nF nanofarad ?? or do you mean its the same size as a .o22uF been awhile since my electronic classes haven't done anything with cap sizes in a lonnnnng time. Going to have to visit Australia between archery (4-H Coach) and here have met alot of people.
