We have generally had a famous Australian on one side of the notes, and the QE2 on the other. Until Australia eventually changes to a republic, I can't see that anyone other than KC3 will appear on side 1 of any new notes. Irwin, was a great guy, maybe one day for side 2, but probably not quite serious enough for a banknote yet, compared to others. banknotes.rba.gov.au/australias-banknotes/people-on-the-banknotes/

probably not quite serious enough for a banknote yet Speaking of not quite serious enough ... If they ever considered using a fictional character, who would you choose if your choices were Mick Dundee or Master Blaster?

Id be unlikely to answer a question like that, on the basis that Australia is in fact, a proper country.

OK, I have to ask . . .
Do people in Australia actually say "Crikey", or was that just an "Irwinism" for TV?
I'd vote for Bindy on the currency. She's probably more famous here in the US now, there's a whole younger generation who doesn't remember the original TV series with Steve.

For the record (and Im an English expat here!), nobody has said that C word in a generation or two, although it does have its place in history.
They also have a son Robert Irwin, now in his late teens, and he is channeling his Dads persona , and his shorts too. A good kid though and we see him quite often on TV.

Ah yes- the "C" word- must be culture. That means Sir Les Patterson, no contest. My first reaction to the OP was Kevin Wilson, but then the Tom Selleck look-a-like character climbing out of the swimming pool in "Don's Party" sprang to mind.
I've never been much of a royalist, but I always held The Queen with utmost respect given how she conducted herself and her office. Never having known any different, I find it strange now to have a male as head of (my) state, and somewhat ridiculously I'd rather EIIR remained on the currency.
I wonder what the response would be if the British were canvassed on what they'd like to see on the Nuggets and folding green beer tokens? Another Boaty McBoatface sans doubt? With the benefit of that hindsight, I reckon this needs to be a "you'll get what you're given" exercise, crikey we've had enough practice with that over here.

I'd like to see Errol Flynn on a banknote...he's Tasmanian..but that counts, right?
I know you referred to Australia as being a "a proper country", but hats off to a guy that dies at 50...and has the body damage of a 75 year old revealed at his autopsy. Come on, reward the achievement!
