thanks wolf !! great page BTW. any idea where I could get these parts locally, for example does radio shack sell the proper types of pots (audio, log, linear taper) with the right shaft lengths..?? and the multi-position tele or strat type switches... or the push/pull switch built onto the pot..??
and suppose you had your choice of HOW you would wire up a second humbucker at the neck.. when you already have only one on the bridge.. what way would you wire it all up, for a 2-wire humbucker.. then for a 4-wire hb ??(bridge hb is already 4-wire with center tap switch)

Radio shack doesnt sell 500k Audio pots (I tried already and humbuckers work best with 500k) your best bet is GuitarCenter (they sell "genuine" Gibson parts) if you have one. Or you can stop by your local music shop (in my case Henri's Music) and ask for the guitar tech. You should call in first because here the guitar tech is only in the store for one full day then for the rest of the week hes bouncing around everywhere.
Did you have a fat strat to begin with and are now looking for a Iron Maiden style guitar. Fat strat is 1 Humbucker and two Single coils. Iron Maiden style, their lead guitarist has a couple like this, is a humbucker in the bridge, single in the middle, humbucker at the neck.
Buy a four wire humbucker. It is a bit more difficult but you have so many more ways of using it. A two wire humbucker can be put out of phase or in phase... thats it. Four wire can be split, phased, humbucking, split and out of phase etc.
