Netrunner,
welcome to GuitarNuts2.
one would think that the Sunn Mustang is wired the same way as a Strat.
assuming that's true, we know in your case, at least the tone side of the selector switch has been re-wired.
could you post a drawing of the wiring you have now?

hi Netrunner,
i'm not much of an artist, but i think both of us draw well enough to get our ideas across.
it don't need to be pretty to do that.
it looks like all you need to do, is to connect the wiper of the neck tone pot to the bottom lug of the right side of the switch.
then connect the ccw lug through a capacitor to ground, just like the other 2 tone controls.
if you don't have another capacitor, you could connect the ccw lug of the neck tone pot, to the ccw lug of the middle tone pot. they CAN share the same capacitor.
cheers,

pix are always good!
i don't have a digital camera myself, so i don't have any to share.
(in that respect, i guess i'm still living in the stone age.)
i can tell you what i think, even before i see the pictures.
you'll be pleased that you added another function to your controls........
........................BUT...........................
......................you won't be satisfied for very long.
in a few weeks, at most, you'll be looking to change the switching, pickups, bridge, tuners, or something.
after all, there's a reason we're called GuitarNuts!
cheers,
