I've got a new LP.... and rewired it using the diagram on guitarelectronics.com the problem is my tone pots don't act as as a tone control it also act as a volume control.... then I rewired it using guitarnuts wiring for vintage LPs... the same problem occur? I just dont get it.... I've rewired a lot of LPs.. but this one is one of a kind... Do my pickups have a problem? I'm using a DIMARZIO 80's PAF with two stranded condustor and 1 solid conductor wire.
Please help guys!!!

Do you have a polarized capacitor? Im not sure what that would do but that could be it.
Are you using 500k Linear pots for tone and 500 Audio pots for volume? Audio are usually labeled 500KA and linear are labeled 500KB. You dont have to use 500k pots but usually humbuckers are wired with 500k pots. I'm not sure what would happen if you used audio pots for tone but it could be it.
Is it properly grounded? probably not it because you sound like a seasoned amateur guitar engineer.
Have you toyed around with the pickup itself?
Thats all I have for now

I'm using 4-500KA.. i don't think its the pots.. the difference between a "A" and "B" pot is that "A" is more gradual than "B". specially at lower volumes.... About the pickup.. this is something... no reading(resistance) but working fine. tonight I will be re-wiring it. Like the one on the Seymourduncan.com it different from... what is posted at Guitarnuts and guitarelectronics.com.... Its really an headache.. thanks for the help man!!!

A couple possibilities to consider:
a) if the value of the capacitor is too large it will act like a volume pot. Try 0.047 microfarads.
b) if one of the terminals of the pot is connected to the ground it may act as a volume pot.
Ummm... not many other ways it could act as a volume pot unless the pot is bust.
Check values first: I have occasionally muddled a 0.47uf with a 0.047uf-- very easy to do (particularly if the value is written in a strange secret language of electronics)

try getting a new cap.
you may just have some rotten pots. In which case just buy some long shaft CTS pots from guitarelectronics.com
