NOTE: Absent any good reaons to the contrary, I am going to "demote" this thread from sticky status, on or about 18 Mar, 2007. We seem to have gotten over this particular hurdle, there's no point in wasting space for current topics in the listings. Indeed, the cause of the problem was fixed by the ProBoards coders, and the new release of their software gives the Admin much more control over any such future issues. |
Posts seem to be disappearing from the Schematics sub-board. It seems to affect the bottom-most posts in that the sub-board can only have/present the 20 most recent posts (on both of my laptops). sumgai indicates that he only sees 15. I tend to believe that the multiple page function isn't working or applicable to a sub-board. The Schematics sub-board indicates 16 topics, but I see more than that. I've had two of my earliest posts (ToggleCaster and TeleBlender)disappear in the last week. I've reposted one prior to understanding what was happening. If you have posts near the bottom of the list, I would suggest that you retain a text copy of them as entered/edited just in case. Any new topics may/will cause the loss of others. We're working on a solution. FWIW, I CAN find original posts that have "disappeared" from the topic list by searching for them. I was able to recover the text basis for the ToggleCaster and TeleBlender by searching within the Schematics sub-board. The search MUST case sensitive. So, things appear to still exist, they're just "outback" for a spell.

More like a "hide-about".

That would explain why I couldn't find Unk's "Big Ugly" mod the other day.
I guess we should hold off on adding any more to the board for the moment.
An alternative is to simply have another main board. No reason why it should be "sub". Or put schematics on the main wiring board and sticky them at the top.

Ya, 'specially in der middle of der vinter, eh?
Do a case-sensitive search within the Schematics sub-board for TeleBlender.
You'll get the post result, but it won't show up in the topic list.

And set the "way-back-when" machine 'til at least February. That's what I needed to do looking for that very same thread.

This is all just inherent to a forum. With all the pics hosted in different photo hosting sites and member account subject to intentional or unintentional deletion.
Or Guitarnuts should have their own pic server.
I would hope that everybody who goes through the effort of making drawings and explanations about wiring, they would post it on a personal blog site and declare that to the search engines. Forums come and go, pic server come and go, but if somebody takes the effort to help other people out, it's a shame to see it going to waste.
Example: if you want to know about basic rewiring, you go to Guitarnuts: all mods together, nice overview. All this info is 10 times or more on this forum, but try to find an complete thread.
--at least that's what I do--

BTW, I think the structure of the forum is also a bit general. People come here to find all kind of thing about guitar rewiring, but in the structure it's just a subforum like a handful of others.
Maybe a more specific division of the different aspects of guitar rewiring might also make the forum more effective.
just a thought j
