although, it doesn't hurt to have a room full of engineers and technicians working for you.
as much of a fan as i am, of Tommy (and his best bud, Hank), one should note that most of his patents were from his employee's ideas.
the early work was all Tommy.
later he was just the "owner" of the work.

interesting point unklmickey...
trivia question, is edison it or his employee the one responsible for inventing the "edison phase circuit" thing that enhances stereo imaging and impact for broadcast and mastering ?!

Sure thing unk Edison stereo 3D processor with correlation meter.
"You can widen or narrow the stereo spread, bring instruments to the front or move them to the background, and make corrections to the stereo image – even on a finished master. All with five easy-to-use knobs. [........]
integrated correlation meter guarantees fool-proof control of mono compatibility. Frequency cancellation and undesirable phase deviations in the mono and stereo content of your audio material are immediately visible." www.behringer.com/EX1/index.cfm?lang=ENG

unk, I guess you're saying it was impossible for Tommy to have had anything to do with inventing or even inspiring that stereo imaging circuit...
but he invented the phonograph... which was mono... I wonder somehow if he didnt also have something to do with the idea behind this gadget also..

unk, I guess you're saying it was impossible for Tommy to have had anything to do with inventing or even inspiring that stereo imaging circuit... no, what i am saying, according to the reference you gave: Edison stereo 3D processor with correlation meter. since stereo audio didn't exist until the early-to-mid 1930's, theoretically he might have invented it on his death-bed. maybe,
or then again, maybe they just paid Billy-Bob Edison (or Edison Wistinghausen) $50 for the rights to use his name.
to make it seem important.

And my final answer is...... Excerpted from the Tech Specs on Behringer's website: Phase correlation meter: Type................ synchronized rectifier circuit
That word rectifier stands out for me. T. Edison is credited with recognizing it for what it does, and naming it as we know it today. Albeit, he didn't get it on the first try. I think some fast and loose wordplay took place in the Marketing Department that day, that's all. ;D sumgai
