i have a humbucker and on/off/on DTDP switch and want to use series/parallel switching as explained on the webpage: can i successfully do this? my real question is what are is the bottom switch position. Off? it looks like the up position is series and middle is parallel, both are hum cancelling. thanks for helping. greg

you can't do any of these permutationw with an on-off-on switch. See the bottom of the link, they all require on-on or on-on-on switches. The best to go for (imo) is the on-on-on series-single-parallel config. With an on-off-on switch, the 'bottom' position is ON, the centre position is off. Otherwise it would be an on-on-off switch. Or an off-on-on switch if it was upside down.

The GuitarNuts website is very good. However, if you want to see some other diagrams, an explanation of DPDT switches and so on, go to this page on my website: www.1728.com/guitar.htmYou might find it helpful.

you can't do any of these permutationw with an on-off-on switch... i heartily support this conclusion. although you CAN do a series/parallel with the on-off-on, the center position will have no continuity, and be totally useless. decide whether you want series/parallel (on-on) or series/split/parallel (on-on-on). then get the appropriate switch. i'm amused that a month or so ago, i posted a diagram just like the bottom drawing on the GN page you linked to. it seems John Atchley beat me to the punch on that one........BY SEVERAL YEARS! well anyway, at least i pointed out that if you do the wiring like the bottom diagram, it do either series/parallel or series/split/parallel, depending on the switch. unk
