hello guys.
newbie here, just wanted to share my "QTB" project which i have
learned from this site. (btw, this site is really full of good info, way
to go guys!
)
after spending a couple of days reading the threads about QTB,
i have decided to go for it on my Ibanez RG350DX (White) which i
have recently bought about 2 weeks ago ;D
pls see the pix i below:
this is the HSH cavities of the RG350DX, it seems that its already
coated with conductive paint but, since i wanted to shield the
pups better, i decided to shave the rough parts with a dremel.
the copper foil that i bought from a Stained Glass Shop (used for
making stained glass effects (with adhesive already) the
thickness of the copper foil is 1.25mil and the size is 12inches x
12 inches (got it for C$6.50)
after cutting the foil to the correct size, i started to paste it to the
cavities...
the finished cavities with copper shield....
noticed that i have also replaced the ground wire from the trem claw with a thicker wire gauge to improve the conductivity.
now for the pick guard... this is the back side of the stockpick
guard. notice that its already shielded with aluminum foil, but
then again, i only want the best so im changing that to copper
hehehe! ;D
the cut-out i have made for the pick guard
the finished cut-out pasted on the pick guard.
so there it goes. i have already put together the guitar and since
i am so excited to hear the outcome, i forgot to take any more pix ;D
conclusion about the mod???
i dont want to "exaggerate" the results but one thing i can say,
"i dont need to buy a new pick-up anymore!!!"
how do i post an mp3 sample? pls give me a site where i can store mp3 files so i can post the difference and you can hear for yourselves
